Our Champions are organisations who understand the challenges and opportunities associated with staging the Games. They also have strong links into both the business and academic communities in London.
Our model is to use this understanding to identify gaps - and therefore opportunities - to stimulate innovation. Champions have identified 2 Challenges for their sector. We believe that by providing an industry-led focus for innovation, ideas are more likely to find funding and, ultimately, a market.
Please go to our Champions page for more information.
London SciTech Challenges is about connecting businesses with the best academic talent.
We belive that by collaborating, the potential of new ideas and innovations can be realised more effectively.
The SciTech Challenges team have identified and recruited the most innovative, market-focused Departments and Faculties in London's universities and colleges.
White Loop originated and developed the model for concept for SciTech Challenges, which is grant funded by the London Development Agency (LDA).
Our Champions are contributing resrouces in-kind; developing the Challenges, helping to promote the initiative and then providing support for the exhibitions and showcase events.
Innovation is universally recognised as a key factor in differentiating businesses in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. SciTech Challenges identifies clear market opportunities which act as a focus for your business. You may have existing ideas which fit with the Challenges on offer or you may want to respond with a completely new idea.
London has some of the most well respected and business-focused science and technology academics in the world. If you have never accessed the expertise in a university department, this is your opportunity.
Collaborating with academics with expertise and research capabilities relevant to your idea and business, we will give you a platform - via our exhibitions and website - to promote your idea and your business alongside the project's Champions, academic partners and the wider business community.
This project is about giving businesses the opportunity to work with London's academic community.
Universities have different models for engaging with business and industry, and whether your business is charged for research/development input will depend on how you collaborate with them.
Universities will often look at joint venture models when collaborating with business; others will charge consultancy fees for their time and expertise.
There are specific grants available to fund business and academic collaboration; more information will be made available on this website in June 2008.
