- The Centre for European Protected Area Research (CEPAR) integrates a range of research, consultancy and training activities in protected area policy and management.
- The South East Regional Research Laboratory (SERRL) is a geographic data handling and analysis centre specialising in demographics, land use and urban and regional policy analysis.
- The Rural Evidence Research Centre (RERC) provides innovative, multi-disciplinary, research and evidence for The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to support the development of policy for the social and economic regeneration of rural England.
- The Aquatic Environment Group has recently worked with Lloyds to assess Thames flood risk and collaborates with institutions that are at the forefront of either a field observation/laboratory or a modelling approach (terrestrial, coastal, offshore; resource, landslide hazard insurance and pollution).
